			<description><![CDATA[ <p>I have a question to you all.. I am new to the idea that this could be what is wrong with me.... I have been to doctor after doctor for the last 5 years. 
My severe symptoms started as a tremor and with that came the slurred speech.... The first flares only lasted a week or so. The first time I went a year before
it happened again... then the next time a few months.  Last year I went from November until March of this year with no reprieve.  The symptoms are: legs jerky,

As my symptoms progress, the one symptom that is really adversely affecting me at this time is walking.  If I use only my cane, I must hang to someone&#39;s
arm or use the wall and door frames or anything that is within reach (hopefully stable).

For most walking around the house, I use my rollator.  It&#39;s use is very helpful.  Once I get into my van, I have no trouble driving, thank goodness.  I
even have clearance from the Ministry of Transportation to drive... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ <font color="#006666" size="2">My sister made a comment to me the other day.  She was told that most people with ataxia have scoliosis (curvature of the
spine), and or high arches.  Now, my sister and I both have scoliosis, tho she has it much more severe.  And my arches are pretty much normal, I think.

			<description><![CDATA[ A good friend of mine has been diagnosed with hereditary ataxia of the cerebellum.  At first they thought it was Parkinson&#39;s (which I have) but now they
think the former.  Is there anything that can be done about aspiration of saliva?  She has that really hollow cough way deep in her lungs from aspiration.  I
have the same problem with Gerd...caused by a <font style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #00ff00">hiatal</font> hernia but that will be repaired next month so should solve
my problem.  What can... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I use a cane when I am outside walking and going to errands. However, I started going to a gym and walking on the treadmill. I hold onto the bars and there is a wire hooked to me so that if I fall the machine will stop and an alarm will sound. I can do this for 30 minutes but I cannot be on my feet for 30 minutes or my back is killing me. I am doing this because I hope to ward off a wheelchair and strengthen my legs. <br><br>Can any of you do this?<br><br>Carol ]]></description>

My sister, who is 3 1/2 years older, and that much further along than me, started to have these high fevers periodically.  They last all night, and leave her flat for a couple of days.
